Palbasha Siddique – The Bangladeshi-American Star
Who is this talented young lady? She is a Bangladeshi-American singer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I believe she is also in contact with Nora Ali, the American Junior Miss of 2007 winner. Palbasha moved to the US with her family when she was 10-years-old. So she grew up as an American singer since childhood, but if you take a look at her videos, she has never forgotten where she comes from.
Palbasha Siddique was also in nTV’s CloseUp1, which is the Bengali version of American idol held in Bangladesh. Palbasha Siddique did not win the CloseUp1 competition regardless of her golden singing talent. In my opinion, due to how emotional Bangladeshis get, they chose someone who is of the lower class; they would never choose Palbasha because she’s from America.
Palbasha is popular for singing the modern version of Rabindronath Tagore’s song “Praan”, which was used for the 2008 version of “Where the Hell is Matt?” on YouTube. The YouTube video got over 30 million hits as of today.
The song’s lyrics are displayed below in both Bangla and in the English transliteration:

Praan Bhulbona ar shohojete Shei praan e mon uthbe mete Mrittu majhe dhaka ache Je ontohin praan Bojre tomar baje bashi Shei jhor jeno shoi anonde Bojre tomar baje bashi |
Here is the video that got over 30 million views on YouTube.
Where the Hell is Matt?
Why did I write this? Palbasha Siddique is a probashi Bangladeshi, and look how far she’s gotten, and she sang “Praan” a Bengali song in Hollywood. We have a lot of opportunities in America so let’s use it.
