Bangladeshi British Actress Attacked by Family Members

Afshan AzadAfshan Azad was brutally beaten and was threatened to be killed by her father and older brother. The reason being is she was going out with a Hindu. Afshan Azad is a 22-year-old Bangladeshi British Muslim actress who played Padma Patil in the Harry Potter films.

The father and brother are out on bail and are ordered to appear in court later this month. Now it’s very disappointing to see this event revolving Bangladeshis but it’s not surprising. Bangladesh’s creation is revolved around violence and destruction and society reflects upon it and her father, who is 54 lived during that time.

Women go through this all the time in Bangladesh and they can’t do anything because of the weak legal system in the country and mostly because they are not educated. What happened with Afshan Azad should remind us that she has right in UK, but what about the hundreds of thousands of women who don’t have right in Bangladesh? This is another reason that education is important, especially for women.
