Anushay Hossain – The Strong Bangladeshi Feminist
Who is Anushay Hossain?
This gorgeous Bangladeshi feminist works in Washington in “monitoring and analyzing the impact of US foreign policy on the health and rights of women and girls in the ‘developing world’”. She is the author of her own blog Anushay’s Point. Her journey of feminism rooted from her mother from Bangladesh as described on her about page on her site.
She wrote many articles for popular magazines and news sites, and a handful of them are about Bangladesh and Muslim women. If you keep up with her blog you an tell she is very passionate in what she talks about and it goes hand-in-hand with her job.
Some of her articles include:

- “Banning The Burqa Is Not The Answer” for Feministing
- “What Is So Controversial? First Arab-American Crowned Miss USA” for the Huffington Post.
She also appeared in Russian TV’s Aloya’s Show discussing about the issue of America’s funding of the Pakistan’s Media.
On her blog she wrote:
…investing in women holds the solutions to many of the challenges we face in the world today, from war, to climate change, to global pandemics such as HIV/AIDS.
After reading that line, I thought to myself, this woman is speaking my language, and I’m not talking about Bangla language. This lady is really what Bangladesh needs. Through my studies in my sociology class and in my independent research I learned that investing in women stabilizes not only family but also the local economy. Women have the tendency to hold a family together and make sure their children finishes their education. Mothers will stick by their children thick and thin and they are the best investors for their family if you give them money, as we’ve seen from the success of Grameen Bank. Women prioritizes based on the needs of their families.
If she ran for the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, I would vote for her no doubt. And because of her educated background from the West, she would win by a landslide. I hope Anushay may help out in MuktiBangla’s mission in the future. If we have more women like her, who have a passion for feminism, we can help raise Bangladesh’s literacy rate to a greater degree.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
